Hello,
I’m Adam D. Vallée, and I have the honour of serving as the President of the Elliot Lake-Blind River Local 532 of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW).
My journey with Canada Post began as a contractor in 2018 (Niagara Region) before I became a permanent RSMC in October 2022 (Elliot Lake, Ontario). As soon as I secured my position, I immediately joined our Local’s executive to channel my experience and passion into serving my fellow members.
My commitment to labour rights was forged in a diverse career that has spanned small business, corporate management, and the precarious world of contract work. I’ve managed complex logistics in a family business, advanced quickly to supervisory roles in the telecommunications sector, managed change, and navigated corporate shutdowns.
This real-world experience is complemented by formal education. My early studies in Journalism built a foundation in communication, while my 2021 College Certificate (GAS)from Cambrian College allowed me to connect my practical skills with the theories of business management and psychology. This fusion of practice and theory has provided me with a clear blueprint for how to run successful operations while treating workers with the dignity and respect they deserve.
Crucially, my career also includes a pivotal moment where I chose to leave a lucrative role over a conflict with my ethical beliefs, reinforcing my unwavering commitment to doing what is right.
This unique path has given me a profound, firsthand understanding of the challenges workers face without union protection. I’ve experienced the instability of the gig economy and personally faced a health crisis where a lack of benefits stood in the way of life-saving medication—a powerful lesson that fuels my fight for the security that only a union can provide.
Driven by this experience, I am dedicated to empowering our members, ensuring a safe workplace, and fighting for the dignity and well-being of every worker.
